Horse Tales

Teddy and Just’n Come to an Understanding

The story is both fact and fiction. Fiction because we are not sure of the past our two horses experienced before coming to us. The facts: these two thoroughbreds, Teddy and Just’n, live with the author and her husband and the tales they tell are true experiences, perhaps not all theirs, but incidences which have been observed and experienced by the author.

Reviews for Horse Tales

Absolutely one of the most enjoyable books I have read about friendship in a long while.
While it can be sad at parts, the plot of the story revolves around the friendship of Teddy and Just’n.
An easy and fun read for all young children who are fascinated by horses and want to read a book told by one.
I will be passing on my complimentary copy of this book to a local riding stable for them to give to a child who will enjoy it.

Patricia Daly-Lipe is not only a gifted author of many books, but a deeply compassionate human being as well, respected for the love and care she has given to rescued horses over many years. Here she presents us with a profound insight into the hearts and minds of two of the horses who call her The Lady. Clearly the author resonates with the intelligence and individuality of horses, giving us a fascinating story that will engage anyone’s interest. Likewise, will this slender volume encourage children to see, and hopefully treat animals with the kindness and respect they deserve. The photographs are beautiful and the text skillfully written, definitely a book worth owning.

Patricia Daly-Lipe is a marvel. In this story she brings the horses to life in sharing their thoughts. The readers will be mesmerized, and the photos add to her touching story.
Lipe’s writing captivates the readers. I am thrilled by her talent and her great skill in bringing her rich imagination to life. It is so evident that Patricia knows much about horses and that she has a deep love for them, enlightening the reader, sharing interesting facts about horses’ lives as the compelling story unfolds. Readers, you will find Horse Tails/Tales whinnying your hearts. I was disappointed when the book came to a close. More, Patty, please!

Horse Tales: Teddy and Just’n Come to an Understanding is a fabulous book for any young reader who love horses. It is sad at times when Teddy and Just’n tell about their life. But I enjoy how they are living now. I would be interested in reading more stories about them in the future. I cannot wait to pass my copy on to the school library to share with others in my children’s school.
I give Horse Tales: Teddy and Just’n Come to an Understanding five plus stars.
I received this book from the author. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

“Kudos to Patricia Daly-Lipe for bringing this book and its story to a young audience. There is no better place to plant the seeds of how wonderful horses can really be when treated with love and concern, and cared for in a manner that nourishes their genetics. Well done.”

Joe Camp, author of ‘The Soul of a Horse’ and the movie ‘Benji’

Thoroughbreds are a breed of horses. They are best known for their agility and speed, especially running at the racetrack. They are very intelligent and, it is important to note, they are also sensitive.
Two thoroughbred horses, Teddy and Just’n, were roaming around the pasture, their heads down, noses even touching the ground. The Bahia grass they nibbled in the lush green grass field tasted so good, they could not resist. Their barn was nice, and their stalls were light and airy, but the sun was out and the grass and the breeze beckoned. Why stay inside? The Lady gave them free access to the pastures from their stalls, so out they went. After consuming enough grass, the two horses decided to get out of the sun and wandered over to the big tree in the far corner of their pasture. As they stood together, cooler under the shade of the old oak, Teddy decided it was a good time to talk. Since he had only recently arrived at this farm, he wanted to understand his new friend. And this is where their conversation began.

Just’n and Teddy are two thoroughbred horses who share friendship and conversation in this delightful book designed primarily for children and teens, but wonderful for adults as well. Together, Just’n and Teddy discuss the problems and joys horses face and express deep respect and gratitude for “The Lady” who was taken them in and given them a loving home. Offering important insight from their perspective regarding respect and kindness to creatures, one comes away from this book with a greater sense of appreciation for the gifts horses bring to us, being in their own right, with character and opinion and sensitivities too often overlooked. With clarity, they speak their minds to each other, and ultimately, to all of us as well. It is indefinitely a book worth owning and sharing.

Those whose lives are attached to animal friends realize they interact and communicate with equal and often superior ability to express inner consciousness. Daly-Lipe has been intimate with horses since early years and uses her experiences to expose how animal’s personalities emerge resulting in instinctual interactivity. The term “horse-sense” themes her delightful missive, as the equine tell their own stories.

If you categorize yourself as an animal lover this amusing storybook is a required read.

Patricia, what a joyous surprise. HORSE TALES arrived yesterday. I just finished reading it again; what a delight. You are such a marvelous writer. I could hear the horses talking with each other and their conversation just flowed. I can’t believe I had forgotten how Just’n was named; so clever. The entire story was and the pictures could not be more perfect. I like that you are on one of your loves on the back page. Great picture and bio. You expressed the thoughts of the horses so touchingly; the last sentence about Just’n and Teddy had me gulping. Where are you selling your book? Do a lot of children (AND adults!) get to read it? The Ozzie stories steal one’s heart. Not only do I like reading about your richly fulfilling life, I also enjoyed reading the endorsements of Joe Camp (do you know him?) and Rita Reynolds and, humbly, mine! I loved your words to me on the title page. Hugs! I wish you much success with HORSE TALES. I think it is a winner in every way. And I perhaps shouldn’t mention this, but both Frank and I struggled to open your package. That wrapping paper has to be the strongest there is. Frank thinks suitcases could be made from it, or is it also the tape?! Thank you over and over, Patty; I love having this. Oh, I also liked the Acknowledgements, quotations, and ‘I AM.’ What a book. You must be so proud.
